Marvin D. Sheldon of Woodburn, Oregon, passed away on Oct. 2, 2017, after a quadruple bypass surgery.
His wife, Arlene and his son, David were by his side.
He was born in Valentine, Nebraska on June 4, 1934. He was the son of Walter and Lela (Paxton)Sheldon. The family moved to Laurel, where he was raised and educated. He was united in matrimony to Susan Roth. They had four children and divorced in 1967. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1957. He was stationed in the Philippines. He worked in Billings and Laurel, in car sales.
In 1968, he moved to California and was united in marriage to Arlene (Schield-Ostwald) in 1980. Later he captained a private yacht from California to Mexico and from Florida to Maine and onto the Bahamas and Jamaica. He also supervised the built of a 125 foot yacht in Vancouver, Canada which he later captained until he retired.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene of Woodburn, Oregon, and his sons Ken (Cheri) of California, Wes (Coco)and of Arizona, David (Donna) of Oregon, daughter, Lela in California and a stepson, Bill Ostwald (Jackie) of Florida.
He is also survived by brothers, Jerry (Pat) of Laurel, Truman (Linda of Red Lodge. He had nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services and internment will be at the Yellowstone National Cemetery in Laurel, on Oct. 20, 2017 at 2:00pm. Reception to follow at the Senior Center in Laurel.
